Elevate Your Candle Experience - Candle Etiquette
I love meeting new customers at markets and getting the opportunity to chat with them about Fix My Crown and the background behind how the candle range came into fruition.
Buying a new scented candle is often coupled with anticipation, a sense of glee at the idea of introducing a new scent to your space and enjoying the delicate dance of fragrance and flickering flame in your home.
When meeting new customers I like to chat with them about candle etiquette in an effort to enhance their candle experience and make the most out of their investment. So, let’s talk about candle etiquette.... and yes, there is such a thing!
The first thing to do is to allow for the initial burn which requires time and patience. When lighting your candle for the first time, it’s crucial to let the candle melt evenly across the entire surface, creating a wide pool of liquid wax. This sets the stage for a clean and even burn in subsequent uses.
Ensure you regularly trim the wick to maintain your candle's aesthetic appeal and ensure a clean burn each time you light it. A trimmed wick to about 1/4 inch helps control the flame's size, preventing excessive flickering and black soot on the container.
Respect the suggested burn time for your soy wax candle which is typically around 2-4 hours per session. This prevents overheating and extends the overall life of your candle.
Avoid placing your soy wax candle in drafty areas to ensure an even burn. Drafts can cause uneven melting and diminish the overall fragrance throw. Choose a central location away from windows, vents, and fans to let the scent permeate your space effectively.
Prevent tunneling by allowing your soy wax candle to burn long enough during each session to reach the container's edges. This ensures an even melt pool, preventing the formation of a tunnel-like hole down the center of the candle. Keeping an eye on how your candle burns will ensure you get the best value for your money as all of the wax will burn therefore getting the most out of the fragrance.
Extinguish your soy wax candle with care to maintain its pristine appearance. Use a candle snuffer or gently blow out the flame to minimise smoke. Also avoid dipping the wick into the melted wax, as this can cause future lighting issues.
When not in use, store your soy wax candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. This helps preserve the integrity of the fragrance and prevents the wax from discoloration.
By following these simple steps you will embrace the art of scented soy wax candle etiquette and elevate your candle experience to new heights. The longevity and fragrance throw of your candles will not only be enhanced but you will also create an inviting atmosphere that captivates the senses and illuminates your space for longer.
